To make a car drift, turn the driver aids down first: in Settings → Car, set TSC to 0 and ESP to 0, then tune the car for lock and slide. The build below is a black Nissan Silvia with a 2JZ (2997 cc) swap, an LSD 2 WAY, -9.2° front camber and a 70° steering angle. These cpm 2 drift settings come from one player's drift car; the creator calls the suspension "the most important part of this build" and the wheels and tyres the second most important.
How do you turn on drift mode in CPM 2?

You don't flip one drift switch for free driving. You drift by taking the traction aids away. Open Settings (gear icon), choose Car, and under Car Assistant set:
| Setting | Value in the drift build |
|---|---|
| ABS | 5 |
| TSC | 0 |
| ESP | 0 |
| Steering Assistant | On |
| Fast Steering Return | Off |
TSC is traction control and ESP is stability control; at 0 they stop cutting power when the rear steps out, so the car can slide. You'll know it worked the first time you give it throttle in a corner and the back keeps sliding instead of the car straightening itself.
The same player drives with Tilt steering under Controls, with steering sensitivity at 0 and Tilt Smoothing off. If you play on PC with keyboard or controller, keep your own controls and copy only the Car Assistant values.
For timed drift events, the game also has a Drift discipline under Racing Modes and dedicated Drift tracks; the tune below works for both.
What is the best drift setup in CPM 2?
Engine and differential
The build swaps in a 2JZ (2997 cc) and upgrades its parts in the engine market before touching the chassis. Then fit the differential:

Buy LSD 2 WAY for 3,000 cash. Its description says it locks under both acceleration and deceleration and is "beneficial for aggressive driving and drifting". The other options in the same market are LSD Torsen, LSD 1 Way and LSD 1.5 Way at 2,000, LSD Electronic at 5,000 and LSD ActiveM at 10,000.
Gear ratios

Open Gearbox → Gearbox Configuration and set:
| Gear | Ratio |
|---|---|
| 1st | 3.538 |
| 2nd | 2.06 |
| 3rd | 1.404 |
| 4th | 1.00 |
| 5th | 0.70 |
| 6th | 0.582 |
| Final drive | 4.3 |
Press Save; the screen confirms with Gearbox configuration changed! The sliders only move a short way from the stock ratios, as explained in cpm 2 gearbox settings.
What suspension settings do you need for drifting?

The creator's own on-screen note says to get this part exactly right. Open Suspension, set each tab, and press Save Changes on each one:
| Tab | Setting | Front | Rear |
|---|---|---|---|
| Alignment | Camber | -9.2 | -4.4 |
| Alignment | Toe | 0 | – |
| Alignment | Caster | 6.7 | – |
| Alignment | Ackerman | 67 | – |
| Alignment | Steering angle | 70 | – |
| Spacers | Thickness (cm) | 6.7 | 2.1 |
| Anti Roll Bars | Stiffness | 7.78 | 16.12 |
| Springs | Length (inch) | 8.66 | 9.19 |
| Springs | Stiffness (kgf/mm) | 6.75 | 6.27 |
| Shock Absorber | Bump | 3.8 | 3.2 |
| Shock Absorber | Rebound | 6.8 | – |
The steering angle of 70 gives the car enough lock to hold a big angle, and the rear anti-roll bar is about twice as stiff as the front. The game's own description says negative camber improves grip in corners but wears the inner edge of the tyres faster, so expect to change front tyres more often.
What tyre pressure and fuel should a drift car use?

In Maintenance → Tires Pressure, the build runs 3.08 bar front and 2.52 bar rear. For fuel, the on-screen tip is that any fuel works but E100 or E85 is better; the build fills up with E85.
The rims and tyre sizes are set in Visual Tuning → Rims, which the creator calls the second most important part.
What's next after the drift build
Take the car to the Drift track or City 1's drift circuit behind the mart, listed in cpm 2 full map. For the engine side of a build, compare blocks and parts in cpm 2 best engine, and for a straight-line car instead, follow cpm 2 tuning.
